A long time ago, in medieval England, two knights, one tall and one short, are riding out into the mountains to battle a dragon. As they reach the outside of the dragon's cave, the short knight turns to his associate and says, "I'm going in after the dragon. You just wait out here in case he comes out."
"Sure thing." the tall knight obliges, upon which the short knight disembarks his horse and traipses inside.
After wandering through the darkness for a few minutes, the short knight hears a loud rumbling roar and looks up to see the dragon, smoke pouring from his nostrils, staring him right in the face. "Say," the short knight says. "I'll be that I can prove to you that dragons don't exist."
"All right." the beast agrees, upon which the short knight takes a pocket dictionary out of a pocket in his armor and hands it to the dragon. The dragon puts on his reading glasses and pores over the dictionary, "Hmm, alligators, apes, armadillos...bats, beagles, bears...ferrets, frogs, foxes...geckos, giraffes, gorillas...lemmings, lemurs, llamas...newts, nightingales, nutrias...opossums, ostriches, otters...skunks, snakes, sparrows...tigers, toads, turtles...walruses, whales, wolves...zebras, zebus, zorillas. Nope, no dragons." And with that, the dragon disappears in a puff of smoke.
As the short knight leaves the cave he's greeted by his associate, who's pleased to see him unharmed. "How did you ever defeat that awful dragon?"
"Oh, wasn't a big deal, really, I just proved to him that dragon's don't exist. By the way, could we stop by the local pet store on our way home? I promised my wife a phoenix for her birthday."

It's Pony Time!
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is the most recent TV incarnation of the ever-popular My Little Pony franchise, as well as The Hub's most popular show. This series, which was written by Lauren Faust, who, along with her husband Craig McCracken, had previously worked on such acclaimed shows as The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, follows the daily life of the smart, sensible Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn apprenticed by Princess Celestia, the city of Equestria's resident royalty, and her goofy, lovable friends.
Twilight's group of buddies consists of the ditzy, hyper Pinkie Pie who loves to sing and throw parties, hard-working country girl Applejack whose family runs the local apple plantation, feisty tomboy Rainbow Dash who not only loves sports and races but also helps control the weather, sweet, bashful Fluttershy(Love that name!) who loves animals and nature, and haughty diva Rarity who is Equestria's resident fashion designer. The group is occasionally joined by Twilight's little dragon buddy Spike(who fans of MLP G1 will remember) and Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash's cute but accident-prone little sisters Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo, who have dubbed themselves "The Cutie Mark Crusaders", due to their trying to find their mission in life.
Episodes often revolve around the ponies incurring a dilemma or situation of some ilk, which they always solve with the help of their friends, a little bit of magic, and plenty of humor!Personally, I think this is the best version of My Little Pony(although G1 was certainly no slouch). The art style is beautiful, the characters are interesting, funny, and relatable, and the episode plots are clever, entertaining and amusing. The best thing about this show, at least IMHO, is that unlike previous MLP incarnations, it doesn't take itself seriously at all, with slapstick and silly jokes being a common occurence. A nifty show that MLP afficionados old and new are sure to love, with an excellent opportunity to introduce a whole new generation to that ever-catchy theme song!
"My Lit-tle Po-nee, My Lit-tle Po-nee..." Gotta love it! :-)
Several DVDs of the series were made, which are available on Amazon*:
Several other(very nifty!) items were made, such as books, a trading card game, and some very cool action figures!
Here are some links to some of the cooler action figures:
"Friendship is magic!"
*There's another DVD entitled, "Pinkie Pie Party", which regrettably isn't currently available on Amazon, but occasionally shows up on ebay.

The Game Show:Petz Fantasy Sunshine Magic for the Nintendo DS
"Honey, did you remember to walk the unicorn?"
One of the niftier games in the eponymous Petz series, this game allows you to care for, play with, and train various mythical creatures that hatch out of eggs(you start out with only 2 to choose between, but more eggs are unlocked as the game progresses). One particular point of interest is that the dragon and unicorn are the only pre-existing mythical species in the game; the other species are completely original, such as the energetic mongoose-like Chagron, the prank-loving turtle-like Bublue, the fussy cat-like Mialou, the adorable little winged cow-like Toolin, and the speedy reindeer-like Felir.
Gameplay involves feeding, playing with, and bathing your pets, making sure they're happy. Doing each of these things fills each of their respective needs bars; when all three needs bars are full, a mini-game specific to the pet's abilities(fire, ice, flight, or speed) can be played. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are rewarded at the end of each mini-game, depending on your score. If a gold medal is won, a new pet will be unlocked. Each pet also has favorite toys, food, and cleaning equipment(2 in each respective category); finding out what their favorites are not only fills their needs bars a lot more quickly, but discovering all 6 of their favorites levels them up, giving their skills a boost in the mini-games.
There's another version of this game called Moonlight Magic; regrettably, I don't know much about it since I haven't played it. As far as I can tell from the screenshots I've seen, the only discernible difference is that the pets look different and the game takes place in the nighttime rather than the daytime(These may or may not be the only differences, though).
Pros: -A good, innovative, and highly original game concept.
-Gameplay is fun and easy, with next-to-no learning curve.
-The graphics are beautiful.
Cons:-Figuring out what the pets' favorite items are takes a lot of guesswork. If you do well taking care of them, however, the pets will give you a hint as to what one of their favorites is.
All in all, a fun game, somewhere between a standard Petz game and an RPG, that has a lot of replay value.
