The Game Show:The Dog Island for the Nintendo Wii and the Playstation 2

This precious little game, based off the famous Artist Collection franchise, is something of a cross between Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, and an RPG. Players play as an adorable small, big-headed dog who's trying to save their younger sibling(players choose from a brother or a sister), who has contracted a mysterious illness, by traveling to a faraway island in search of the legendary flower that's said to be the cure. Players choose from 40-odd breeds of dog(some of which have color variants), including a few rare breeds, such as Weimaraners, Bull Terriers, Flat-Coated Retrievers, Shiba Inus, Cairn Terriers(they're super-cuddly!), and Australian Shepherds.

Players travel through grassy plains, deserts, and icy tundras, using their dog skills by sniffing out hidden items, and howling to ward off dangerous animals. In a similar manner to the aforementioned Animal Crossing, players also have the ability to catch bugs and fish. Players will befriend the islanders who live in the various towns, and will sometimes be given mini-quests by them, thus being rewarded with a woof(this game's currency) once each task is completed. Players can also dress up their dog in various hats, scarves, glasses, etc.

Pros:-A nice, enjoyable game with virtually no learning curve.

         -Absolutely BEAUTIFUL graphics!

         -Cute, lovable characters with lots of personality.

         -Lots of fun quests, and nifty items to be found.

         -A sweet, touching storyline which is more than elevated by the game's theme song.
          (A box of Kleenex is highly reccommended.) :*)

Cons:-Like most RPGs, this game can be a bit tricky; without a strategy guide of some sort, a person might be stuck for what to do in certain situations. (Fortunately, there are many such strategy guides available online!)

          -This game has no autosave feature, relying instead on "save spots", which can sometimes be tricky to find.

          -Some of the puzzles found in various areas can be tricky to solve(e.g. I lost count of how many times I went through that puzzle in the ice level before I finally got it right. :-p)



Overall, a sweet, heartwarming game that's also a lot of fun. If you like dogs and you like RPGs, this is the game for you!

This adorable little song by former child singer/actress Gayla Peevey(A.K.A. Jamie Horton), best known for such novelty hits as "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" and "Robot Man", tells the tale of three bunnies in a pet shop seeking a home. Classic Cartoon Showcase:The Wayward Pups

In this sweet classic, two(very cute!) little puppies are playing with a balloon, which interrupts the family cat's nap. As the cat is bawling them out for this, the balloon pops, startling him so much that he goes tearing around the house, wrecking everything in sight. When their owner sees the damage, she blames the puppies for it and turns them out of the house, which the cat delights in. (Nice, huh? )  >:-(  The saddened puppies wander off by themselves, and end up being pursued first by a dogcatcher, then by a mean bulldog, and eventually by a whole passel of nasty dogs. Can anybody save them? And might the cat like the puppies a lot more than he's letting on? Please enjoy! (Fun fact:Clarence "Ducky" Nash, who was famous for voicing Donald Duck, voices the cat.)

Classic Cartoon Showcase:Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Here, in keeping with the fairytale theme of my previous cartoon post, is the classic tale of the family of bears(including the cutest little Baby Bear!) and the little girl who happens by their house while they're away. Please enjoy!

Classic Cartoon Showcase:The Milky Way

In this adorable classic, the legendary(and very cute!) Three Little Kittens misplace their mittens; their mother, displeased with their irresponsibility, sends them to bed without supper. The hungry little kitties are unhappy with this until they spy the Milky Way via their bedroom window; they then take it upon themselves to fly there via a basket suspended by balloons, and soon have all the milk they'll ever want or need...but is too much of a good thing really a good thing? (This cartoon is very similar to the classic Disney short, Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.) Please enjoy!

Classic Cartoon Showcase:The Hound and The Rabbit

In this adorable classic, a cute little rounded bunny(whose shirt is a bit ill-fitting...perhaps he and Tubbs shop at the same place?) is pursued by a largish dog. Once the bunny sees that the dog only wants to play with him, he befriends the dog, dubbing him "Sniffy". The bunny introduces Sniffy to his friends who invite the dog to join their football game. (Love the retro leather helmets!) Presently, a hungry fox happens by with the intention of making a meal of the bunnies. Can Sniffy save his new friends? Please enjoy!

The Game Show:Squishy Tank for the Nintendo DS

Squish!

Squishy Tank is a nifty little puzzle game starring many of these bizzarely cute little tanks who need extra protection because they're, well...squishy! Players help the Squishy Tanks by breaking up different colored blocks, with certain amounts of each color needed to finish each level. There are also various special items(such as the tornado pictured below) that aid gameplay in such ways as increasing time, getting rid of a bunch of blocks at a time et al. 

The game modes include Time Attack mode, Survival mode, Quest mode, and Story mode, the latter of which follows the Squishy Tanks through various humorous escapades. Also included are various unlockables, such as 3 different mini-games(one of which being a humorous nod to the legendary Space Invaders) and costumes to dress the Squishy Tanks in(the descriptions of some of which being humorous allusions to Bob the Builder, DragonBall Z, Ghostbusters et al.).



Pros:-A fun, amusing, hard-to-put-down game(You may ask me how I know, LOL :-D).

 

 

          -Easy gameplay with virtually no learning curve.

 

 

          -Very humorous overtones.

Cons:-Honestly, what's there to complain about in a game about cute Squishy Tanks?

Overall, this is an enjoyable, humorous game that's every bit as likeable as its adorable little protagonists. If you like puzzle games and you like funny games, and particularly if you like funny puzzle games, this is the game for you!

Classic Cartoon Showcase:Betty Boop and Pudgy in Little Nobody

Betty's adorable little dog Pudgy falls in love with the cute girl dog next door. Sadly, not only does the girl dog turn him down, but her owner calls him a little nobody and runs him off, leaving him heartbroken. Betty endeavors to comfort her little friend by telling him(in song, nonetheless) that not only is he not a little nobody, but he's very special, particularly to her, which more than lifts his spirits.
Very sweet. Please enjoy!

 

Classic Cartoon Showcase:Somewhere in Dreamland

In this very touching cartoon made by Max Fleischer (creator of cartoons featuring Betty Boop, Popeye, Superman et al.), two little poor children, a brother and sister, have an elaborate dream about a magical land filled with toys, food, and other wonderful things. Needless to say, a happy ending is inevitable. (I highly recommend a full box of kleenex for this one.)  :*)  Please enjoy!
